Program 3 – Building Officials
This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the many aspects of the International Energy Conservation Codes (IECC), including the adoption, implementation, and integration of specific energy code requirements used during construction, plan review and inspection of residential and commercial projects.
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- Make connections with what you know concerning residential and commercial construction and IECC requirements
- Discuss your understanding of the 2009 International Energy Conservation Codes (IECC)
- Explain the intent of IECC
- Describe minimum requirements for energy-efficient design and construction
- Describe construction materials and systems to meet Energy Conservation codes
- Describe two basic priorities to use when designing renovations for a residential and/or commercial building
- Explain thermal envelope basics
- Demonstrate compliance software, REScheck and COMcheck
- Share code resources
